Ross Hell

Ross Hell, 43, is currently tattooing in East London from Club X Tattoo Parlour, Hackney Central.

Originally from the Hastings punk BMX and skate scene, I was a pro BMXer for many years until I moved to London at 22. I worked at the Dragon Bar on Old Street and at the Stella Dore Gallery on Brick Lane, then in Shoreditch. I also worked with Banksy on numerous street drops and solo shows, learning a wide range of techniques and applications along the way.

I taught myself how to tattoo and have been tattooing for the past 13 years. Coming from the underground tattoo scene, many say I was a pioneer in pushing that culture into the mainstream.

I’m not shy about my past — addiction issues sadly left me homeless for three years. I got clean after surviving a horrific five-storey suicide attempt. Now healed and ready for action, I’m diving into new collaborations that reflect my punk-chavvy aesthetic.

Currently, I’m working with Chip Artist on 3D pieces and larger prints, all available through Acid London.
